Awards for Feminist Smut, What that Means, and an Invitation! (Video Inside!)

lynsey g chapter 17 feminist smut awards

Hello, darlings! It’s been a while, but it’s time for a new video of me doing a live reading from my book, and an invitation to the next reading this Sunday!

Video of Chapter 17: The Feminist P()rn Awards

Waaaay back on May 11, I read Chapter 17 from my award-winning memoir, Watching P*rnlive on Facebook. (Note: I’ve taken to obscuring the word “p()rn” so I can start reversing what I believe to be a shadow ban on social media. Heavens to Betsy, wouldn’t want people have reasonable conversations about adult entertainment without being penalized for it in such a way as to affect their livelihoods!)

Anyhoo, in Chapter 17, I described my first-ever trip to the Feminist P*rn Awards in Toronto in April of 2011. It was a life-changing experience, especially coming close on the heels of my first AVN awards in Vegas, followed by my first experience of Cinekink—the kinky film festival—in Manhattan. My brain was abuzz with excitement about feminist smut and its implications. I was also excited about consent in adult entertainment, approachable performers, and the many possibilities of ethically made p()rn. In this chapter, I talk about what all of that means on a larger scale. If you’ve ever wondered about what feminist p*rn actually is, this is the chapter for you!

So sit back and watch the video below, or check it out (and LIKE it!) on Facebook or YouTube!

You can also find further notes about and links to many of the folks and resources mentioned in the chapter, like Cindy Gallop, Cinekink, and more. Those are at the Facebook and YouTube pages, for further reading, viewing, and inquiry.

Invitation to Chapter 18: Making It In Miami

I’m formally inviting you to join me for another live reading this weekend! I’ll go live on Facebook at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 9 to read Chapter 18: Making It In Miami! This will be a short, fun read about that time I went to Miami Beach for an adult industry convention, where I partied so hard I lost my voice… But I still managed not have as much fun as I could have. Because I’m a fuddy-duddy. No spoilers! But there is one great photo I’ll show you.

Since it’s a short chapter, I’ll talk about some news items around sexuality and adult entertainment before the reading. Then I’ll open up the discussion for a live Q&A with viewers afterwards. So please drop by my Facebook page this Sunday to watch, listen, chat, and ask questions!
