A while back, I heard from a burlesque performer in the NYC area, a certain Regina Stargazer. She wanted to know if I’d be interested in interviewing her for my ongoing series of burlesque performer interviews at Luna Luna.
I’ll be honest. I don’t normally respond to requests for interviews like that. I’m not sure why, exactly. There’s something disingenuous about it in my head, I suppose. I prefer to see somebody perform, let myself be struck dumb with awe, and then pursue an interview if I see fit to do so.
But Regina intrigued me. She told me she has not one, not two, but five “altered personalities” she performs as, bending not just gender roles but species ones, too, and exploring all sorts of themes like insanity, size, and sex appeal. And she started out as part of a Rocky Horror cast. As Frank.
So, obviously, I interviewed her!
What can I say? I’m a gigantic Rocky Horror geek.
Go check out the interview at Luna Luna! We covered gender fuckery, performance identities, Bacchanals, self-love, and lots more!
