JENNA HAZE — “She’s not just a total slut like she is on camera. She’s the kind of girl who you wouldn’t know does porn!”

You may not have realized this, but WHACK! Magazine and its staph of derelicts and degenerates are pretty 420-friendly. As this year’s biggest holiday, the 20th of April, approached, we scratched our heads and thought, “How can we make this 4/20 the best one yet?” And the answer came to us, as if from heaven, in a cloud of thick reefer smoke: interview the biggest stoner in the jizz biz! So we called up our good friend, that angel of hemp-fueled hotness herself, the stunning and often-stoned Jenna Haze, to chat about her company, Jennaration X, anal sex, and reefer. This is just Part 1 of a very long interview with Miss Haze; we promise we’ll get around to more later, after we’ve celebrated our favorite holiday! Links for part TWO and THREE.

WHACK! MAGAZINE Hi, Jenna! It’s Miss Lagsalot!

JENNA HAZE Hi! Long time, no see!

W! I know, right? It’s been way too long! And you know, I usually get really nervous about interviewing people, but I’m not nervous about you.

JH Yeah, you know I don’t usually get to do interviews with hot girls. I usually talk to guys. I’ve been doing full days of interviews once or twice a month, I’ve been trying to do this since the beginning of the year. Just interviews about my company and what I’ve been doing and stuff. And it’s always on the phone because I don’t like in-person interviews, and it’s always a guy that calls me, and I’m always like, “Hello…?” because you never know what you’re going to hear on the other end. I think this is one of the only ones I’ve done with someone I’ve actually met before.

W! It’s so much nicer this way!

JH I want to also thank you for the great reviews you did of my movies.

W! I have been loving your movies so far. Absolutely loving them.

JH Thank you!

W! You know, we’ve got a copy of Just Jenna that j. vegas has been working on a review for.

JH That’s a really great movie. It won [the AVN Award for] Best All-Sex release. I was totally shocked about that. Because there was some stiff competition in that category, and I actually put the movie together because people were asking, “When are you gonna do another all-you movie?” The last one was Interactive Sex with Jenna Haze, so I was like, well, I don’t want to do another interactive one, what can I do for my company? One of the things people love about me is that on my website I do all these web shows, all these intimate kind of solos. And I thought, well Darkside was really hardcore, Interactive Sex was the one where you can make me do whatever you want, so why don’t I do one with a little bit more of an intimate feel? I put together five boy/girl scenes that were really amazing and a bunch of solos in between. So it was a little bit more of… well, it’s still hot and dirty, but it’s a little bit more like, if a guy’s really in love with me and he doesn’t want to see me get banged by five guys, or whatever… not that I’ve banged five guys — I never actually did that! laughing

But yeah, in this, you can see me be naughty and stuff, and in a few solos I talk to the camera. I talk to the guy and kind of fuck with his head. I call them “jack-off encouragement pieces.” They’re on my website, all over it. They’re super fun. I get to play this girl, I mean you can play it and be super sweet or you can play it and be a total bitch. Like, sometimes I’ll be like, “Oh you know you love me and no other pussy will get you off like mine does!” Or I’ll be like, “Aw, you know you’re never gonna get it, the best you’ll ever get is this video! So you better just jerk off to me all the time! Buy my sex toys! Buy my Fleshlights and imagine you’re fucking me because that’s all you’re ever gonna get!”

W! That’s perfect. Different people want different things. I was actually thinking about this. I think that you are so popular, in part, is because you have this super classy look and super classy way of carrying yourself, and yet you have all these different characters that you play, where you’re like this sweet little innocent thing, or you’re dirty talking like crazy, or you’re doing really dirty things. But you always manage to look classy and hold yourself in this certain way. It’s really intriguing to me. Do you have a secret that helps you do that? Or is that just the way you are?

JH It’s part of who I am, I think. It’s the way that I am. I don’t try to be any way on camera, I just have a good time with what I do. I’ve always believed that if you carry yourself like a star, and if you carry yourself with respect, then people will respect you and treat you like a star. I’ve seen over the last ten years that girls will go to conventions and stuff and they’ll wear the trashiest things. And well, that’s nice in the movies and stuff, but I go all-out on my signing outfits. I always wear something that’s very sexy but that’s really classy and fashionable. I think that kind of sets me apart. People see me and they say, “Oh, wow, she’s not just a total slut like she is on camera! She’s the kind of girl who you wouldn’t know does porn.”

You’ve seen me at some of the conventions, and the way I dress is really out of the mold! And I think that’s what guys really want, a girl that’s classy and elegant and holds herself with dignity but is also a total slut in the bedroom.

W! I think so! Do you think that makes the fan more comfortable when they’re with you, or do you think it’s more intimidating in its own way?

JH I think it can be a little intimidating, which I find hilarious. I’m all of a hundred pounds soaking wet, you know? I’ll do signings, or I’ll do dance gigs, and a lot of the time when I do dance gigs, the first song when I do — I do four to five songs a gig, which is kind of a lot compared to some girls who only do three, because I love dancing — and the first song I do is something me and my bodyguard talk about every time. Everyone’s just kind of like, “Woah.” Everyone’s kind of quiet and they just stare at me. And I’m like, “Come on, don’t be intimidated! Snap out of it!” I find it funny.

W! That is funny.

JH But yeah, so I guess I intimidate them. Some people are really friendly and come right up to me but some people get a little bit intimidated, which is just so funny.

W! Well the other thing is that I’ve met a lot of women in the industry who are much smaller than I expected them to be, but you are probably one of the tiniest.

JH I think I was the tiniest until Lupe came along.

W! Yeah, Lupe kind of outdoes everybody.

JH Yeah, Lupe is so tiny! I was like, “Oh my god, I feel so fat next to somebody for once! Holy crap!”

W! It’s the weirdest feeling! I think you’re actually slightly taller than me, but you’re definitely tinier. And that never happens to me. So when I met you, I thought, “Woah, she’s like my size! I cannot imagine doing the things she does on camera because they look like they would take a lot of strength and physical power.” If you had to guess, why would you say that so many women in the adult industry are so small?

JH If I had to guess? I mean… I don’t know. I mean, there are a lot of girls in the industry who are really big girls, too. Some that are really tall. But I agree that the majority you meet are like really little, like Jesse Jane. You meet her and you’re like, “She’s my size? What? You’re so little!” I don’t know why we’re all so small, but I know that it makes the dicks look a lot bigger.

W! That was what I was thinking.

JH Yeah, it makes the dicks look bigger. I mean, not just that, but people will say to me, “Oh my god, you’re so small! I didn’t know you were so tiny!” Because in my pictures, I’m so slender. I think it was Stoya who told me I’m a miniature, doll-sized fashion model, with my body. Because I’m so slender in my pictures, with heels and stuff, I look like I’m five-foot-eight, five-foot-nine. But I’m really not, I’m like five-foot-three.

W! Yeah, you look like a tall, willowy person in the pictures.

JH Yeah, but I’m totally itty-bitty, tiny-winy.

W! Do you think it also helps because the guys can move you around more easily on camera?

JH Um, yeah. You know, I like being a spinner. I like being able to be thrown around. And then the second question people always ask me when they meet me is, “How do you take all those big dicks, being as small as you are?”

W! Apparently body size has nothing to do with it.

JH No, it doesn’t have anything to do with it! I like to tell people that the best things come in small packages, and it’s small girls that you need to worry about, because we’re the ones who can really take it.

W! That seems to be true from my experience as a reviewer.

JH For real! Throughout my years in the business, I’ve met girls who are twice my size almost. I fluctuate between ninety-eight and 103. I know girls are like 140, 150, like 5’9” and up, and they are like, “Jenna, how do you take Lex’s cock in your ass?! I could never do that!” I’m like, “I don’t know… It just happens.” That one was work, I’m not gonna lie. That one was work and Rocco Siffredi was work. Those are the two that I was like, “Oh geez.”

W! How did you prepare yourself for those? Did you practice with large toys for a while?

JH Oh, no. I have a little bit of a routine. A lot of girls starve themselves before anal scenes. I’ve had phases in my career — cause I’ve been around forever — but I realized that I didn’t have to. When I first started in the business, I had done anal in my personal life, and I’d never made a mess, I’d never done anything like that. So I got into the business and I remember the first time somebody told me I had to do an enema, I was like, “What?” They were like, “Yeah, you have to go enema and like rinse out.” I was like, “How the fuck do I do that?” “Well you take this little bottle, and you shoot this water up your ass.” I was just like, “What?! You’re kidding me! I’ve done anal a few times and I’ve never had to shoot water up my ass!” So I did it, and it was kind of reassuring to be like… You don’t have to worry about it. But I never even had thought that anything would happen!

Then I signed my contract with Jill Kelly Productions and I remember being on set, and there was a girl — I’m not gonna name names, but it was not me. She was doing a scene with a really large guy. They were doing a standing anal position. He was like holding her in front, lifting her up and down on his dick, and he lifted her up, and his dick came out, and it… just… flowed out of her ass.

W! Oh no!

JH I was like, “Oh my god, that could happen?” I just remember being so shocked. And after that I went through a period where I starved myself before anal scenes and I was rinsing out my ass, and nothing ever happened. Nothing ever happened before I started with that routine, nothing happened after.

And then I started to get really tired during scenes because I didn’t eat the night before. And I was like, “Fuck this!” Cause, you know, I was doing a lot of anal. I started to get skinnier, and I was like, “Fuck this! It isn’t worth it!” I went back and started figuring out what would be the best things to eat the day before, and I tend to eat a lot of really plain foods, really simple, wholesome regular foods. And I have a belief that if you have a healthy diet, and I know it sounds gross, but if you have scheduled bowel movements, you should be fine. Like, I’m like a clock, I go every morning. I feel like all these girls, they starve themselves and then they make a mess anyway, and it’s like, “Why are you doing that to yourself? It’s just torture!”

W! It sounds so unhealthy.

JH It is unhealthy, and I understand the paranoia because I went through it, but the thing is that you have to be really in touch with your body and what it wants to do. And know your body. You really have to be in touch. Over the past ten years I’ve become so in touch with my body. Like I know every part of it, I know when this is gonna happen, I know when this feels right, I know when this doesn’t feel right. So now before anal scenes, I just eat the right stuff the night before, I have a little snack in the morning, and I warm up in my chair with a butt plug. And then I go and do my scenes and usually do all the vaginal scenes first, then I’ll break and after the vaginal scenes we’ll do stills, and during the stills I’ll get to warm up with a dick in my ass, and then we go into the anal video, and it really works for me. I’ve developed a whole routine over the last decade!

W! So, you direct all your company’s movies, and that includes directing the scenes that you’re in. This is maybe a beginner question, but how does that work?

JH It’s hard.

W! Yeah, I mean… tell me how it works.

JH Well I have a great cameraman who I’ve worked with for years and years, and he’s also one of my best guy friends. He knows my style. Before the scene I’ll go over what kind of look I want, what kind of camera angles I want, what kinds of positions I want to do. You have to go over most of it before you even start, cause once you’re in a scene, you’re in the scene. It’s really hard for me to be like, “Hey! Hold on, I want you over here! Get my orgasm!” It’s hard to do that without cutting. I kinda try to just let it flow. I tell him what I want before and then when we break for stills I tell him what I need, what we’re missing, and what goes in there. There have been times when I’ve been in a scene and yelled, “Cut! Let’s start that over again!”

It’s definitely made my scenes a little bit more stressful because I’m not just performing. When I perform for other people, which I don’t do very much anymore, I’m not worried. I get to set, I get my makeup done, I take pictures, and I fuck. Now that I produce and direct, it’s my company, I own it, and I pay for it all. I’m on set and not only am I directing, but I’m also producing and I’m fucking. It’s a lot more stress going on. But at the same time, I feel like I’ve gotten some of my best scenes from my company. It’s kind of a paradox. I get stressed out, but sometimes I feel like stress helps me get off more in my scenes. I’m like, “Goddammit! Just make me cum! I’m spending all this money to pay you to fuck me, dammit!” Which is the weirdest thing.

Me and Joanna Angel have this conversation all the time. She’s like, “Do you know how much it sucks to have to pay James [Deen] all the time to fuck me?” Can you imagine having to like, pay your boyfriend to fuck you? It’s so weird, I always joke around with guys, like, “You know, you should be paying me for this.” I feel like such a john sometimes.

W! Well you gotta do what you gotta do, right? You’ve gotta get the good talent in there.

JH For real! But it’s been sort of a learning process with the directing and producing and stuff. The first year I think I was a little shaky and unsure, and the second year I feel like I got into the role and I discovered my style and my comfort level, and ran with it.

W! You’ve always struck me as a very business-minded person. You like to be in control of what you’re doing, and so having your own company has got to be, even if it’s stressful, fitting for you. You’re good at this.

JH It’s good in another way because, while I feel like shooting for other people once in a great while, I don’t ever have to have sex on somebody’s gross couch if I don’t want to. Like, I pick the locations. I don’t ever have to have sex with somebody who I’m not turned on by anymore. It’s all my fantasies and all my setups and all my locations that I want to fuck at, and of course I pick the best locations for my shit.

W! I feel like your movies are always set up nicely and shot nicely. You can tell that there’s somebody in charge, you, who’s doing quality control. I’ve been really impressed with your theme movies, like Legs Up Hose Down, with all the crazy makeup and outfits. I like your style. Do you have a vision that you’re trying to go for, for your company? Or do you just pick a movie and say, “I’m going to do something a little out-there for this one”?

JH It depends on the movie. The crazy makeup and stuff we did for Legs Up Hose Down and again for Meow. I get tired of doing the same cookie-cutter shit all the time. I try to change it up and get a little more artsy with my company.

But I definitely think I’m going for a specific look, I mean, every company has to find their own little niche, their genre, their style. Everybody has to develop their style of what their movies look like. I mean, Jules [Jordan] totally has his own style, you know what I mean? I have my own style that I’m selling. And I think the look that I’m trying to go for is just… I want my stuff to be… I don’t want to say “couples porn” because it’s not couples porn. I want it to be beautifully shot, erotic, sexual, sensual, a little bit artsy, and something that you’d see in like a fashion magazine or a music video. Mainstream-y looking. Not like regular porn. Especially not regular gonzo porn. You know, with that, you always get some girl on someone’s couch, and I’ve always told people that my style’s like me plus Jules Jordan. And my sets are all gorgeous and beautifully shot and a little bit artsy and a little bit funky, and the sex is just nasty and hot and passionate.
