I interrupt your regularly scheduled end-of-month post to bring you this important news: I’ve just launched my first Kickstarter in a YEAR! It’s for a new installment of my series PACK, about vigilante dogs fighting for justice on the streets of Brooklyn.
Wait, what?
Lynsey, I thought you were obsessed with secks-uality and p(o)rnography! What’s this about comics and a pack of dogs?? (That’s what I’m imagining you are saying in your head.)
(Now I’m going to respond. Are you ready?) Look.
Long before I became obsessed with demystifying the adult entertainment industry. Way before making secks-positive content. Decades before I started fighting for secks-ual liberation… I was a writer. I’ve always been a writer.
Yes, I love writing about the above topics. It’s one of the most important things I’ve ever done. And I’m proud of the work I’ve done, and still do, in all of those areas.
But I have more in me than secks stuff. You might say I’m an “issues” person. And two issues close to my heart, aside from secks-related topics, are systemic injustice and animal rights.
Here’s the Deal.
This comic book series, PACK, combines the above topics. But it’s more than just a dry look at social justice issues. The series actually came out of my lived experiences during my time in New York City, where I tried my hand at living in a series of rapidly gentrifying neighborhoods. In Harlem. Then the Bronx. Then Brooklyn. And then Brooklyn again. And now, a few years later, in Missoula, Montana.
The series isn’t just about gentrification—it’s also an examination of “what-if” questions. What if someone forced out of their home gave in to the wrath they felt about the injustice they suffered? What if he rescued animals that had also been victimized? What if together, this pack of disaffected fighters started confronting the crimes they saw on the street? And what if those crimes were only the tip of the iceberg?
(Also what if the guy who ran with the PACK was maybe a little bit of a queer heartthrob, I mean maybe he is just a little bit I don’t know but what if?)
The PACK series asks all these questions and more. And it comes with a tasty serving of classic costumed-crime-fighting comics, a dollop of adorable puppers, and a dessert of lightly frothed social commentary. All in all, a balanced comic book meal, if I do say so myself.
In other words, it’s exactly what you’ve come to expect from Lynsey G. Just looking in a slightly different direction that most of the things you’ve read on this blog.
Join the PACK!
So, if you like my usual fare, give the Kickstarter for PACK 3: Temperance a look. You’re under no obligation to back it, of course! But every like, follow, share, and comment helps me get closer to full funding for this passion project of mine.
(And, if you didn’t know, Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing platform. If we don’t make our goal by the end of August, we’ve got to start all over again.)
(And trust me, we will. If it’s one thing we’ve learned from the six stray dogs—and one stray man—of the PACK, it’s tenacity. But we’d prefer not to do it all again. Kickstarters are a lot of work!)
I’d love to have you join the PACK with me, whether that’s with a pledge, a social media share, a comment on the Kickstarter page, or even a DM telling me what you like about the series! Thank you so much for your support, folks.
(PS: Don’t worry. The dogs live!)
